Instasamedi {1}

Introducing Instasamedi!!!

Well, I have to admit that it has changed my life.
For the better.
In a million ways.

OK, essential aside:
Please please please believe me when I say that
I've never been an over-consumer.

Yes, I grew up in North America,
where we spend, spend, spend, spend, spend...
We have a {negative... but not false} reputation for that.

But my parents did a great job of educating my three siblings & I.
We never ever got just what we wanted at the drop of a hat.
We learned that what you do
is more important than what you have.
That an old, beat-up paperback book is just as good a way to
spend a rainy afternoon than playing video games on a new computer.
That even if my friend had a bottle of Orangina in her lunch everyday,
that didn't mean my life was any less interesting or fulfilling than hers.
{OK, that last point maybe took me years to realize,
but it turns out they were right!}

So I swear that I am not the kind of person who gets out her bank card whenever she sees something at the mall that she likes.
I've always been quite on the stingy side, even.
And proud of it.
But what I'm going to say next is somehow stronger than me...

Ready?

If you don't have an iPhone {gasp!},
you'd better stop reading this post right now,
leave the house,
go buy yourself one,
then come back home
& get back on-line.

{I'll wait for you to do that, I promise!}

OK?  Done like dinner?
Good!

So now I can tell you all about my new blog feature for 2012...
Instasamedi!

You see, of course if you have an iPhone,
 you know that Instagram is one of the best applications out there.
It's beyond entertaining to use, fabulously amazing
& {no comment} highly addictive.

{If you need to know more about Instagram, please go over here...
& then please don't have hurt feelings that I'm looking down my nose
at you for not even having an iPhone, you loser!}

{Ahem.}

Anyway, I love taking photos.
I love my iPhone.
I love Instagram.
And I love my blog.

Wow.  That's a lot of love for this early in 2012, huh?

So what I've decided to do is two things:

1/ Take a daily Instagram photo of my everyday life & post it
on Facebook & Twitter to share with friends & family.

2/ Do a Saturday {= samedi of course!} post
featuring the Instagram photos from the previous week
so that you, my lovely blog readers, can see some
recent scenes of life on & around Rue de France.

Sounds good?  On y va ?  {= Let's go?}  OK!

Bonjour & Bonne Année to you, hunky statue! {dimanche, Champ de Mars, Colmar}
A jar of my husband's homemade fig jam as a little New Year's present for my lovely GP. {lundi, Annecy, chez nous}
Late-afternoon chocolat chaud.  I always add a bit of cinnamon. Also, do you love our très retro kitchen floor tiles?  {mardi, Annecy, chez nous}
Baguette that looks even tastier than the baguette printed on the bag it comes in?  That's France for you! {mercredi, Annecy, chez nous}
Yesterday, January 6th was Epiphany & in France, it's all about eating these "Galettes des Rois".  If you'd like to know more about these delicious creations, I did a post on them this time last year.  {jeudi, Annecy, "Boulangerie Banette" bakery down the street}
Look what I made for dinner last night!  {vendredi, Annecy, chez nous}
Oooof.  That was a big intro to just a few photos, n'est-ce pas ?

{BTW, there are only six photos because 2012 started on Sunday, of course. But from next week onwards, "Instasamedi" will feature
seven pictures, whee!}

And I promise to ramble on 99% less than I did today.
I'll just post the photos
plus the caption with the description & the location
Voila... that will be it!

So what do you think?

Please let me know in the comments.
Also, if you have an Instagram account, give me a shout-out
so I can follow you & see images of your everyday life, ok?

Merci & bon week-end, tout le monde !
Hope you have some fun "first weekend of 2012" plans.

{As for me, I'm going to take it really easy so I can finally
get over this awful flu I've had since New Year's Day.}
I'll be back to blogging on Monday.

Bisous !

  2. Umm, who are you calling a loser?! {sob}

    LOVE this feature! So much so that I have both blogged AND tweeted about it.

    I could really go for some coffee with cinnamon on top right now. And a baguette actually. My stomach is totally rumbling...

    XOXO

  10. Thanks, Kelly! And Happy New Year to you! Perhaps 2012 could be the year of the iPhone for you too? {I'm putting a huge amount of pressure on Erin to ask for one for her birthday this year...} Stay tuned for more photos soon. Hope all is well in the Great White North!!
