This is how Christmas trees come in France:
There is no tromping around the forest
(or Christmas tree farm)
choosing the prettiest tree,
chopping it down,
dragging it through the snow.
Nope.
Instead, you go to a supermarket or garden store,
try and guess which wrapped-up tree is the nicest,
throw it in the trunk of the car.
Hmm.
(In all fairness, our sapin de Noel does look pretty cute now that it's decorated
& no longer wrapped up like a mummy.)

You didn't mention how those wacky French don't bother watering their trees. Just nail 'em to a cross on the floor, et voila!

We can buy our tree wrapped up just like that too. You have to admit that it makes less of a mess in the car when you carry it home. This year, I bought mine on a rainy Monday night at Canadian Tire - but for my defence, the people selling the trees are my former neighbors so I was happy to buy it from them. However, it was not very Christmassy.. I brought it back home on the top of my car ! Now that it's in the living room all decorated, it looks great !

We are fortunate enough that here in England at our nearest garden centre you can choose your cut tree and then they put it in that hairnet - so you can at least see its shape! I always dream of walking and choosing one to cut down but never known it any other way.
