This afternoon I had an appointment in Annecy's vielle ville.
It had been a little while since the last time I was in the old town.
You see, Annecy is crawling with tourists in the summer.
It's insane,
like a combination of Disneyland & Times Square.
I don't usually mind crowds,
but I have to admit that there are so many people here
in July & August
that it's enough to make anyone annoyed.
Now that school is back in session, there are a lot less tourists
taking photos, lining up for ice-cream & strolling along the canals.
I found my way to the office I needed to be at,
which was up a few flights of very old, very pretty spiral staircase
in this charming little tower.

I was reminded how lovely this place I live really is.
Church steeples
& bicycles
& streetlamps
& old buildings
&
no tourists in my photo?
Ahhh, Annecy!
Je t'adore!!
Je t'adore!!

So, happy Friday & bon week-end to you!
I'll be back next week with Les Scènes du Week-end,
which may or may not involve a birthday cake...
Wish I were in Annecy right now to eat birthday cake with you!
ReplyDeleteHappiest of birthdays to you, my friend.
I'll call you later.
Love you! xoxo
A Happy Birthday from Manchester, England!
ReplyDeleteFirstly, a huge Happy Birthday! I hope you have a spectacular day full of fun!
ReplyDeleteSecondly, our coastal towns are just the same around here in the summer and I refuse to go to them. My sister-in-law threatened to make a t-shirt saying 'I am a local, I take priority' one year it was so bad!!
xx
Happy Birthday sweet Em!!! I just read the sweet birthday wishes post that Erin wrote for you :) I hope you have the most amazing day! I envy where you live and desperately wish I could be one of those tourists lining up for ice cream :)
