This morning in numbers

30:  how many centimetres of snow fell overnight

40:  how many minutes it took me to slog through knee-deep powdery white stuff to the train station

snow falling at Annecy train station this morning

at least 12:  the number of phone calls from various students, wondering if we still had class

60:  the length of train trip in minutes from Annecy to Annemasse

5:  the amount of time in minutes left to my destination when my phone rang yet again

1:  the number of phone calls I received to tell me that class was cancelled

5:  the approximate number of swear words I muttered under my breath after said phone call

20:  the amount of euros I spent on my train ticket for absolutely no reason

snow, trees & chilly cows seen from the train
4.5:  the number of hours I spent walking to/from the station,
sitting in trains,
waiting on freezing-cold platforms
& cursing Old Man Winter

But, on the positive side...

2: how many hours I napped this afternoon!

  1. Seriously? They couldn't have figured that out BEFORE you dragged yourself through huge drifts of snow? On the bright side, at least you didn't have to actually spend any time with those slacker students of yours! And a nap does sound heavenly...

  3. There's nothing like a nap on a snowy afternoon. Everything is so quiet and you can get all warm and comfy for your nap. Sounds great.
