The first weekend of summer?
It was pretty great.
Saturday involved home-made smoothies,
a trip to the marché
& an evening out at a jazz concert accompanied by fireworks
{even more exciting than it sounds!}
Sunday meant a hike to a beautiful lake near Chamonix,
a picnic lunch,
amazing views of Mont Blanc
& a relaxing afternoon at the thermal baths.
Aaaahhhh.
Summer 2011,
I have a good feeling about you.
blueberries + raspberries + banana + OJ + yogurt + fancy new blender = YUM |
sunhats at the market |
waiting in line to buy baguette |
scenery at the start of our hike Sunday morning |
Mont Blanc + field + blue skies = swoon |
colourful bee hives we saw on the way up to the lake |
our destination, Le Lac Vert, with Mont Blanc in the background |
seeing this snake swimming in the lake was pretty exciting |
Donkeys + chalets + mountains? Yes please. |
The thermal baths where we soaked for a couple hours after our hike. |
Those donkeys are sensible animals. They are grazing in the shade. What a lovely hike you had!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fabulous weekend! Parts of it sound familiar to mine! I also got a loaf of bread at the marche!
ReplyDeletejazz concert and fireworks? Two of my very favorite things in the whole wide world!
ReplyDeleteNot sure I would use the word "exciting" to describe a snake swimming in the lake! More like horrifying? Terrifying? Scream-inducing?
ReplyDeleteOtherwise am loving all your weekend photos. What a beautiful part of the world you live in. If only it were closer to the part where I live! Then we could wander the market together, hang out at the sidewalk cafes, climb every mountain... {how do you make a musical note symbol with the keyboard, I wonder?} ;~)
Love you.
xo
Great scenes of summer! Well, except for the snake! Love your photos...
ReplyDeleteI am more of a lurker than a poster, but I had to voice my disapproval of the snake. In all other respects, I love your blog life, Em.
